Avalanche Discussion

A deep plume of Pacific moisture is to bring heavy snow to the area beginning Sunday afternoon. Southwest winds are to increase to thirty to forty mile per hour averages with higher gusts. A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR 12 PM SUNDAY THROUGH 6 AM TUESDAY FOR THE TETON MOUNTAINS AND GROS VENTRE RANGE...JACKSON HOLE...YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK AND THE ABSAROKA MOUNTAINS.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low in the early morning and increase to Moderate as heavy snowfall and strong winds form new surface slabs upon the existing hard snow surfaces.
