Fresh pillows of wind drifted snow!

No significant change in the avalanche risk is expected. With a north-westerly current, dense clouds will continue to accumulate along the northern side of the Alps, with the possibility of heavy snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday, especially between the Schladminger Tauern and the Totes Gebirge. It will only snow a little to the east, and not at all in the south with clear clouds and strong winds.

The avalanche danger is assessed as low. Fresh pillows of wind drifted snow can be triggered as a slide.

A few centimetres of new fallen snow or wind slabs have been deposited on a hardness of old snowpack. There is generally little snow.

In the coming night, the sky over the Randgebirge and the Niedere Tauern will be slightly cloudy. On Monday, there will be a few hours of sunshine between two cloud banks, especially in the Randgebirge in the morning. Otherwise, the sky will be mostly cloudy or overcast, but visibility will initially be good on the southern side of the Alps. In the north, however, lower and lower clouds will accumulate on the slopes and the peaks will soon be covered in fog. The temperature at an altitude of 1500 metres will be between -3 and 0 degrees. Strong to gale-force winds with gusts of between 50 and 80 km/h from the north-west.
