Kernpunkte
Light amounts of new snow, which could mix with rain to an elevation of 8500 feet, will fall on a springtime snowpack that is mostly stable. Avalanche activity today will be limited to isolated wet loose slides that could occur in very steep terrain at lower elevations where the snowpack is warm and weak or in steep cliff areas at higher elevations where small shallow soft slabs could carry consequences in no fall zones. Watch for unstable snow on isolated terrain features today.
Avalanche Discussion
Clearing skies are expected as a high pressure ridge moves over the region. Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to 40s from overnight lows in the upper teens to upper 20s. Winds will back to the northwest at speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Avalanche activity is expected to be limited to loose wet slides in very steep terrain at the lower elevations and isolated pockets of very shallow wind slab or small loose snow slides in steep terrain and cliff areas at the upper elevations.
