Cooler conditions are expected to have mostly ended the wet snow avalanche hazard. The snow pack is mostly stable and deep persistent slab avalanches are unlikely.
The consequences of triggering a deep slab avalanche would likely be severe. There have been two large deep slab avalanches reported in March. One released naturally on an east aspect of Lava Mountain on March 18. The another was triggered by a snowmobiler, who did not survive, in the Breccia Cliffs area on March 4.
