Avalanche Activity

A lot of snow has fallen in particular on the Main Alpine Ridge. Above approximately 2000 m the avalanche danger is considerable (level 3).

The strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. The wind slabs remain prone to triggering in all aspects. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Avalanches can be released by a single winter sport participant. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs formed. Weak layers exist in the snowpack. The rain gave rise to thorough wetting of the old snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.

Tendency

The weather will be cloudy.
