Forecast Snow Stability: The older snowpack, which exists mainly in North and East facing corries above 900 metres, will remain well bonded, firm and stable in all locations. Redistribution will form isolated shallow windslab deposits on steep South-West and West aspects above 900 metres, however these are not expected to be extensive and will often overlie bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain very cold and mainly dry. Strong East-North-Easterly winds in the evening will become light and back to Westerly by dawn. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with light Easterly winds. The freezing level was around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack, which exists mainly in North and East facing corries above 900 metres, remains well bonded, firm and stable. A thin layer of soft, unconsolidated snow is present on most aspects above 900 metres and in locations remaining in the shade at lower elevations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
