Kernpunkte

Human triggered slab avalanches are possible at the higher elevations. These surface slabs could fail on buried layers of surface hoar or buried areas of faceted snow. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet.

At the higher elevations pockets of surface slab 6 to 18 inches in depth could be human triggered in steep avalanche starting zones, cliff areas and terrain traps.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A weak disturbance will bring some clouds and gusty winds to the region. There is a slight chance for some mountain snow flurries. Temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s. Winds will be southwesterly at 20 with gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour possible. The general avalanche hazard will continue to be MODERATE at the upper elevations where some potential for humans to trigger slab avalanches to depths of 18 inches in steep terrain exists. Avalanches are unlikely except in isolated areas at the mid elevations. Limited snow exists at the lower elevations.
