Avalanches could be triggered on steep, isolated slopes at upper elevations on northerly aspects. Slabs may involve recent surface snow layers to 10 inches or deeper slabs to 18 inches down to the October surface. The snowpack is very warm to the ground and old faceted layers are rounding and gaining strength. Below 9,000 feet, a shallow snowpack quickly transitions to bare ground and avalanche activity is unlikely.

Light snow is possible Tuesday night with partly cloudy skies. Morning temperatures Wednesday will be in the single digits and highs only in the teens. Winds will be westerly to northwesterly at 15 miles per hour. In the Teton area Wednesday, the General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE at the upper elevations where pockets of slabs could be triggered by backcountry users. The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW in the shallower snowpacks of the Greys River and Togwotee Pass regions.
