Avalanche danger in the Prealps is low. Problem: gliding-snow. Isolated moist and wet loose-snow avalanches can trigger in steep rocky terrain. Avalanche releases are small. On very steep slopes over smooth ground, small wet glide-snow avalanches cannot be excluded.

The snowpack is thoroughly moist up to high altitudes, at intermediate altitudes thoroughly wet. Also in transitions from the snowpack to the ground there is a wet layer reinforcing the gliding movement. Below 1500 m there is very little snow on the ground.
