Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack will be firm, icy and stable. New deposits will gradually develop in depth during the day, primarily in wind sheltered and isolated places on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Deposits will not become significant until later in the afternoon as accumulations of unstable snow deepen. Below 900 metres a light snow cover will be present on all aspects above glen level. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be light to moderate strength North-East or Northerly. Freezing level at 600m overnight falling to 200m during the day. Light precipitation overnight but a gradual increase in intensity expected through the day. Observed Weather Influences: A mostly calm day with light North-Easterly summit winds. A dry morning with only light showers falling as snow at summit levels. Freezing level at summits with a slow drop in temperature as the afternoon progressed. Cloudy above 1000m at first before cloud base lowered to 500m during the afternoon, very poor visibility. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is stable throughout. Greatest snow amounts mostly above 900 metres on mainly North through East to South-Easterly aspects. Some developing light snow at summit levels but amounts not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low
