Fresh snowdrift accumulations, mostly thin, but often easily triggered

Avalanche danger above the treeline is MODERATE, below that altitude danger is LOW. Some fresh snow and wind will generate new snowdrifts particularly in eastern aspects, not thick, but often triggerable with minimum additional loading in transitions from shallow to deep snow.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack has settled well. Exposed terrain is often completely windblown, gullies and bowls filled to the brim with drifts.

Weather Synopsis

On Monday, poor visibility. The NW winds will be strong to stormy, reaching 100 km/hr at high altitude. Frequent snowfall, also graupel showers are possible. Amount: 20-40 cm. In the afternoon, longer interims in the snowfall. Sun windows are possible. On Tuesday, the higher peaks will be shrouded in fog, lower down visibility will be better. The NW winds will still be brisk to strong. Temperatures will rise. At 2000 m: -8 to -2 degrees.

Tendency

In the next few day, avalanche danger will incrementally diminish.
