Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above the tree line. Some fresh snow as well as the mostly small wind slabs are in some cases prone to triggering.

As a consequence of new snow and a light to moderate wind, small wind slabs formed. The wind slabs are mostly small but to be assessed critically. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls the danger of dry avalanches is a little higher. Weak layers in the old snowpack can still be released in very isolated cases by winter sport participants.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is lying on a crust in all aspects above approximately 2300 m. This snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The old snowpack is faceted. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. In all regions a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Tuesday: The avalanche danger will persist.
