Temperatures are starting out slightly inverted with the mountains 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the valleys. In very steep, avalanche prone terrain above 9,000 feet, skiers and riders might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of slab up to a foot deep. Remember, even small slides can result in serious injuries in unforgiving terrain. Avalanches are unlikely below 9,000 feet.

Expect clear skies tonight as a ridge of high pressure moves over the region. Temperature inversions will build overnight with mountain lows near 10 and the valleys in the negative single digits. As the day warms, the mountains will climb back into the mid-20s as the valleys surge to near freezing. Cloud cover will increase during the day ahead of a weak Pacific disturbance tracking to the north of the area. In the morning, southwesterly ridgetop winds will increase to 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Monday.
