Avalanche Activity

Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack above approximately 2400 m.

Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. The avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2400 m. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released especially by large additional loads here.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be generally well bonded. Towards its surface, the snowpack is moist. As a consequence of mild temperatures and very cloudy skies a sometimes precarious avalanche situation developed during the last two days. Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack above approximately 2400 m.

Tendency

Gradual decrease in danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides as the temperature drops.
