Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

The fresh wind slabs have formed in particular above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of new snow and wind numerous dry avalanches are possible. They can over a wide area be released by a single winter sport participant and reach large size. The avalanche prone locations are prevalent and are difficult to recognise.

Snowpack Structure

The strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs that are forming during the snowfall are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in many places in all aspects above approximately 2000 m.
