Kernpunkte
The avalanche danger is generally MODERATE but may rise to CONSIDERABLE with strong wind today. Main avalanche concerns today revolve around new snow and wind drifted snow. The fresh drifts are the most sensitive when they are forming and directly after. Watch for cracking within the new snow and use small test slopes to see how sensitive the new snow is.
Snow and Weather
Tuesday was another warm day with the snow becoming damp on all aspects up to at least 10,000'.
Things changed overnight with the arrival of a cold front which brought about 7 inches of new snow and cooled temperatures down to about 20 degrees. Northwest wind speeds increased into the moderate speed category and look like they’re going to get quite strong today.
This current storm is looking more impressive and should linger through today and into Thursday with another 6 to 10 inches of snow possible.
