Forecast Snow Stability: Localised deposits of moderately bonded windslab will continue to develop on North through East to South aspects above 900 metres. This will mainly affect wind sheltered locations such as steep corrie headwalls, gully tops and the leeward side of ridge crests. On windward aspects and at lower elevations the snowpack will be generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight Southerly winds, veering Westerly and increasing to Storm Force during the day. Light snow showers above 600 metres. The freezing level will rise from 600 metres to above the summits early morning before dropping again to 600 metres by mid-day. Observed Weather Influences: Storm Force North-Westerly winds. Snow showers above 700 metres. Freezing level around 850 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh deposits of moderately bonded windslab continue to build on North through East to South aspects above 900 metres. This was mainly affecting wind sheltered locations such as steep corrie headwalls, gully tops and the leeward side of ridge crests. On windward aspects and at lower elevations the snowpack is generally consolidating and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
