Forecast Snow Stability: Through the day, isolated areas of windslab will form on steep wind sheltered terrain, mainly above 800 metres on North to East aspects, Accumulations are not expected to be significant and will generally be avoidable. Elsewhere, there will be a dusting of new snow and the patchy old snow will refreeze, becoming firm at summit levels. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: As the freezing level lowers to around 800 metres by daybreak, summit snow, preceded by light rain, is expected pre-dawn, turning to wintry showers later. Southerly gales overnight will briefly ease in the early hours, becoming fresh to strong South-Westerly through the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A mild and mostly dry day with the occasional burst of light rain at times driven on a fresh to strong South wind. ObservedSnowStability: Little change observed. The patchy and slowly thawing snow cover remains well consolidated and stable, largely lingering around the higher summits on North through East to South aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
