Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be generally well bonded firm and stable. The greatest amounts will be found on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Any remaining old cornices will be vulnerable to collapse during the afternoon rise in temperature. Outwith these areas and above 600 metres the snow cover is patchy and limited to burns lines and sheltered hollows. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry throughout the forecast period. Moderate Westerly winds will become light and variable. Clear skies overnight will allow a refreeze of the snowpack at all levels. Sunny during the morning then cloudy in the afternoon when summit temperatures will rise to around 3 degrees. Observed Weather Influences: Mostly dry with the odd shower of rain and drizzle. The freezing level dropped to around 1000 metres overnight then lifted above the summits during the day. Moderate South-West winds. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snow pack has consolidated and is generally stable. Greatest amounts of snow are found in high coires and gully lines with a North through East to South-East facing aspect above 800 metres. The remnants of old slumping cornices are mostly stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
