Forecast Snow Stability: There will be very little change to the current situation with well bonded snow present. Surface layers will soften very slightly during the afternoon but stability will remain good. Very little snow will be encountered below 800 metres. Largest areas will be found above 900 metres on steep, wind sheltered ground on North to East aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry with some light rain arriving at the very end of the period. Fresh South-Westerly winds first thing, rapidly increasing in strength to gale force as they veer West-South-Westerly. 800 metre freezing level overnight, rising during the morning, with the air temperature moving into positive figures on all summits by early afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: There has been some very light precipitation, falling as snow above 700 metres. Winds have been very strong West-North-Westerly. The freezing level was initially around 800 metres, lifting to 900 metres by late morning. ObservedSnowStability: There has been a trace of new snow above 700 metres but amounts are insignificant at present. Below 800 metres the isolated snow patches have softened slightly. Above this altitude, the patchy remaining snow is firm, well bonded and stable. Largest amounts are to be found above 900 metres in the steep North to East facing corries of the highest mountains. The avalanche hazard is Low.
