Avalanche Activity

Low avalanche danger, favorable conditions, increasing daytime wet-snow activity

Low avalanche danger with favourable conditions, but naturally triggered wet-snow and glide-snow avalanches will increase in frequency during the day on extremely steep slopes. Heed glide cracks. Terminate backcountry skiing tours early!

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is still melt-freeze encrusted in early morning, but swiftly softens and becomes rotten during the morning. Only on steep shady high-altitudes slopes is the snow still hard and cold. At low altitudes and on south-facing slopes the slopes are already bare. Backcountry touring possibilities are already much reduced.

Weather Synopsis

Monday will be quite sunny, with springtime temperatures and light N/W winds. In the afternoon a few harmless convective clouds could form. At 2000 m at midday: +5 degrees.

Tendency

On Tuesday it will still be warm, but heavy high-altitude cloud cover will move in, local showers are possible in the afternoon. Starting on Wednesday, a low over northern Europe will determine the weather, the snowfall level will descend and bring some precipitation by the end of the week. Fresh snowdrift accumulations will be generated at high altitudes.
