Avalanche Activity

The backcountry touring conditions in the morning, after a clear night, are mostly favourable.

Faceted weak layers exist deep in the snowpack especially on very steep shady slopes. In isolated cases the avalanches can be triggered in deep layers of the snowpack and reach medium size in isolated cases. This applies in particular in case of a large load. The avalanche prone locations are rare but are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural avalanche activity has already appreciably decreased. In the vicinity of peaks a moderate danger of dry avalanches will persist in some regions.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack consolidated during the last few days. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

The conditions remain generally favourable.
