Avalanche danger is moderate. Weak layers in the old snow can sometimes be triggered as small-to-medium sized avalanches, particularly by large additional loading. Danger zones occur especially on very steep shady slopes. Naturally triggered or low-additional-loading triggered small-to-medium wet-snow avalanches occur especially on E/S/W facing slopes up to high alpine regions and on shady slopes below 2400m. In regions where snowfall has been heavy on very steep grass-covered slopes, glide-snow avalanches continue to be possible. Caution below glide cracks.
At high altitudes, particularly on steep shady slopes, there are still isolated danger zones for dry-snow avalanches. Small-to-medium sized avalanches can trigger in the upper layers of the snowpack near the layer of dust from the Sahara. During the mild, mostly cloudy night the snowpack was hardly able to consolidate. Light rainfall up to 2400m weakened the snowpack additionally. The snow cover is visibly disappearing at low and intermediate altitudes.
A weak cold front is passing through, temperatures cooling, some clouds and fog from nocturnal skies, a bit of rainfall/snowfall today. Apart from sunny intervals, convective cloud build-up will also bring light showers. The snowfall level lies at 2300m. At 2000 m: +4 degrees. Moderate W/NW winds at high altitude.
A cool northerly air current will decrease the danger of wet-snow avalanches over the weekend.
