Forecast Snow Stability: Accumulations of unstable windslab will continue to develop and gain depth mainly on steep wind sheltered South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Fragile cornices will continue to develop above these aspects. More localised accumulations of windslab will be present on West and East aspects due to cross loading. Isolated windslab may also be present on steep banks at lowers elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers are expected throughout the forecast period. Moderate to strong Northerly winds. The freezing level will be around 500 metres overnight rising slightly during the daytime. Observed Weather Influences: Moderate and occasionally strong Northerly winds with frequent snow showers to all levels. Isolated brighter periods developing during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh areas of localised and unstable windslab have formed in steep, wind sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations are mainly on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. The older snowpack remains firm and well bonded. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
