Forecast Snow Stability: The snowfall of the last 24 hours, primarily on Westerly aspects will rapidly consolidate, much of it melting as the temperature rises. Remaining old snow, primarily on North to East aspects above 800 metres will become moist but remain stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Light variable winds during the evening will become South-Westerly by midnight, then increase in strength to storm force by midday. Overnight it will be dry with the freezing level around 600 metres. Around dawn the freezing level will move above the highest summits and there will be precipitation falling initially as sleet before turning to rain at all levels. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and bright sunny morning with light Easterly winds. Overcast in the afternoon. Freezing level around the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: Overnight snow has given a much more wintry appearance to the mountains. Pockets of windslab have developed on Westerly aspects above 800 metres, primarily overlying bare ground and presenting no significant hazard. Old snow, mostly on high North to East aspects above 750 metres remains stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
