Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack, greatest accumulations of which lie on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres, will be generally well bonded and stable. During the day its surface will start to refreeze above 800 metres. A little new snow will be deposited before dawn, mainly above 900 metres but accumulations are not expected to be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: During the night winds will be strong mainly South-Westerly, veering and easing moderate Westerly. During the day they will become South-Westerly and strengthen moderate to strong. Overnight some light precipitation is expected, mainly falling as rain at all levels before turning briefly to snow above 900 metres as the freezing level drops to around 800 metres before dawn. The day is expected to be dry. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry mild day, with the freezing level just above the summits. Winds were strong mainly Southerly. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack is slowly thawing at all levels and is generally well bonded and stable. Greatest accumulations lie on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
