Well-above-freezing temperatures are expected up to 10,000 feet today. This shift in temperature is affecting the new snow slab and adding stress to weak snow buried 1-2+ feet deep. You will most likely find this problem on slopes facing NE-N-NW above about 8,000' (see avalanche rose below of activity over the past week). Avalanches may not be limited to these aspects as the sun moves into play. Slides may be triggered from a distance and have the potential to pull back into low-angle terrain near the top of a slope. Deal with these unknowns by building wide safety margins into your travel plans.
