Conditions remain dangerous. Large slab avalanches released naturally yesterday in the Snake River Range and were remotely triggered by skiers in the Tetons. On Saturday, a skier near teton Pass was caught and carried 500 feet after a forested slope that had been skied several times failed. Large slab avalanches are likely to be human triggered today and could release naturally. Warming temperatures and sunshine will be increasing the likelihood for these events to occur. Humans captured by one of these large slab avalanches are unlikely to survive. Make terrain choices that will ensure you will live to ski or ride another day.

    Dense slabs two to five feet in depth lie upon a persistent weak layer of faceted snow. These slabs could be triggered by the weight of a single person or release naturally. Some of these slides have been observed to have run full path during the past several days. At the lower elevations smaller pockets of dense slab up to two feet in depth could be human triggered on steep avalanche prone slopes.

    Winds slab 1 to 3 feet in depth could be human triggered on convex rollovers, steep rocky areas and in steep wind loaded avalanche starting zones. Once triggered these slabs could step down and create a very large deep persistent slab avalanche.

Skies are expected to be mostly clear above areas of morning valley fog. Winds will be light at speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour and will veer to the north.Conditions are dangerous. Very large slides continue to release naturally or are being remotely triggered by the weight of a person. A deeply buried persistent week layer of faceted snow will continue to produce large avalanches. Large human triggered avalanches are likely and natural avalanche activity is possible. These avalanches are killers. Theses conditions are prime for serious avalanche accidents. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE. Make terrain choices that will ensure that you will live to ski or ride another day.
