Below about 6500, you can trigger wet snow avalanches that can run long distances and pull eye-widening amounts of debris with them. Natural and triggered slides are most likely on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees where several inches of wet snow sits on 8 to 18 inches of storm snow. Where the near-surface snow is saturated - below about 5000 feet - these slides may be more stubborn. Avoid being on or below steep slopes. Gullies that funnel debris from steep start zones will be especially hazardous.
