Kernpunkte

Avalanches are unlikely today. Rime ice continues to shed off of the upper mountain. Don't linger under steep areas with ice-covered rock above.

Avalanche Discussion

No avalanches or signs of instability have been reported recently. Normal caution is advised when traveling in the mountains today. Other hazards like icefall, low snow cover, and variable snow conditions should be considered. Reports from recent summit attempts are that the upper mountain is very firm and icy. Bunny Flat has been very busy this weekend. Please do your part to minimize your impact on the facilities.

Climbers, please be aware that a winter ascent of Mt. Shasta is a more serious undertaking than in the spring and summer. Please refer to the Climbing Advisory tab and read the full report. Wear a helmet and beware of falling ice and slide for life conditions on the upper mountain. A summit pass and wilderness permit are required above 10,000 feet. These can be obtained at Bunny Flat. Human waste pack out bags are also available - please use them and pack out all waste and garbage.
