The leeward aspects of NW-N-NE-E-SE are of most concern for WIND SLAB with ALL ELEVATION bands subject to active loading conditions. Southwesterly winds are forecast to switch to a more Westerly direction today and continue to blow at strong to extreme velocities. Wind velocities did not look to reach the projections yesterday and last night, but nevertheless they still blew consistently and hard enough to visibly move snow throughout the forecast zone Monday. Be on the lookout for blowing snow, fresh looking pillows of snow, and uneven snow surfaces. Elevations at and below tree line have soft, transportable snow (more so than the higher alpine areas) so pay particular attention to terrain conducive to collecting transported snow below tree line, such as areas adjacent to ridgeline, cliff bands, rock outcroppings, convex roll overs, and gullies that may be cross-loaded. Be aware of what is above you and consider the consequences of tight constricted terrain where even a small volume of sliding snow may take you for a nasty ride.
