Wet snow avalanches are the main concern as we head into spring. I'm anticipating this won't be a huge issue from here forward. The dramatic warm up over Easter "shocked" the snowpack out of it's cold winter state. Usually after a significant warm up like that, wet avalanches (especially wet slab avalanches) are not such a concern.

The biggest thing to staying safe is that if you find yourself punching deep into a wet and sloppy snowpack, it's time to avoid all steep terrain including being down in gullies and ravines.

Special Announcement

Regular avalanche forecasts for the Manti Skyline are done for the season. Intermittent forecasts will be issued as needed dictated by significant weather that affect the avalanche conditions.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: A dramatic cool down overnight dropped temperatures into the upper teens in the high country. This will have frozen up the snow surface. Mountain Weather: We'll see a minor chance for snow today with no accumulation expected. This cool down will be short lived and warm weather moves back in starting Wednesday. It will be more seasonal though compared to the hot weather over the Easter weekend.
