New snow and wind slabs.
On steep shady slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain avalanches are possible, even large ones. Weak layers in the old snowpack are treacherous. Dry slab avalanches are possible. The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on steep northeast, northwest and north facing slopes above approximately 2300 m.
The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The snowpack remains unfavourable also on wind-loaded slopes. Shady slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are dangerous.
