Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be generally stable. Over a wide area only a little snow is lying.

Currently there are favourable conditions generally. Faceted weak layers exist deep in the snowpack. In very isolated cases the avalanches can be triggered in the old snow and reach medium size. This applies especially on very steep north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m in little used terrain. The avalanche prone locations are very rare barely recognisable, even to the trained eye.

Snowpack Structure

Less snow than usual is lying. Below approximately 2000 m hardly any snow is lying. The old snowpack will be well bonded on steep sunny slopes. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes. As a consequence of falling temperatures and solar radiation the snow drift accumulations stabilised during the last few days. In the last ten days hardly any more avalanches were reported.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
