Avalanche Activity

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase a little during the day. Up to intermediate altitudes rain will fall from the afternoon.

The conditions in the morning are mostly favourable. From late morning the weather will be partly cloudy. Up to 2000 m and above rain will fall over a wide area. On very steep slopes individual small and medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as the moisture increases. Backcountry tours should be started early and concluded timely. Above approximately 1800 m snow will fall during the night in some localities.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The rain will give rise in the afternoon to increasing moistening of the snowpack. Below approximately 2400 m only a little snow is lying on south facing slopes. Above approximately 1600 m there is still a very large amount of snow on north facing slopes.

Tendency

Wednesday: The weather report and anticipated change in the avalanche danger are uncertain. Little snow will fall. The avalanche danger will already be elevated in the early morning. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies in particular at high altitude.
