Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be in most cases well bonded.

The mostly small wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads,. This applies in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. From the late morning as a consequence of solar radiation there will be only a slight increase in the danger of dry and moist avalanches, especially on very steep slopes. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The weather conditions gave rise to favourable bonding of the snowpack over a wide area. In isolated cases new snow and wind slabs are lying on old snow containing large grains. This applies especially on shady slopes. A clear night will be followed in the early morning by quite favourable conditions mostly. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day.
