Wet snow
- Above 2,000 m
New snow and wet snow require caution.
New snow and wet snow require caution.
Up to 2800 m rain has fallen since Saturday in some localities. Above approximately 1800 m snow will fall on Wednesday over a wide area. Above approximately 2200 m small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. In particular on very steep slopes and at the base of rock walls medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large wet avalanches are possible. In some places avalanches can penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack. Ground avalanches are possible in particular on steep shady slopes.
The rain gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack in all aspects below approximately 2800 m. Over a wide area new snow is lying on a wet snowpack.
Unexpected weather pattern from the Prealps to the Dolomites: Above approximately 1600 m snow will fall on Thursday in some localities. As a consequence of the precipitation the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase. In the course of the day possibly danger level 3 (considerable) will be reached above approximately 2000 m. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies in particular on very steep slopes.
