Avalanche Activity

Field observations have shown good snowpack stability.

The mostly small wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads,. This applies in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. In these regions only isolated mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible as the temperature drops.

Snowpack Structure

The weather conditions gave rise to favourable bonding of the snowpack over a wide area. In isolated cases new snow and wind slabs are lying on old snow containing large grains. This applies especially on shady slopes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise from early morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in some places on sunny slopes. Sunny slopes: As a consequence of falling temperatures and solar radiation the snowpack will consolidate.
