The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. In very steep wind loaded terrain riders and skiers have the potential to trigger slabs to depths of three feet. On Monday a rider triggered a one foot soft slab on a northeast aspect on Grouse mountain.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )LIght snow is expected overnight into Wednesday morning with up to three inches of accumulation in the Tetons and Togwotee Pass areas and one to two inches in the Greys River mountains. Morning temperatures at 9500 feet will be in the low teens then warm to near 30 degrees during the day. Ridge top winds will continue strong through the period from the west with 25 mile per hour averages and stronger gusts.The avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate Wednesday. Ample available snow and very strong winds will increase both the size and sensitivity of slabs on lee slopes. Backcountry travelers will have the potential to release slabs to three feet in depth on lee slopes at upper elevations.
