The hazard will increase as the day progresses. At the upper elevations warm temperatures and sunshine could combine to cause shallow wet, loose snow sluffs involving the recent new snow on very steep slopes and in cliff areas. In addition these conditions will increase the potential for humans to trigger isolated pockets of surface slab up to a foot in depth. These shallow surface slabs could be triggered beneath cornices and in steep avalanche starting zones that were recently loaded by westerly winds. At the mid elevations the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. Very little snow persists at the lower elevations.

A high pressure ridge aloft will build over the area through the weekend. Skies are expected to be mostly clear overnight. On Saturday skies will be mostly sunny with a chance of isolated afternoon snow/rain showers. Temperatures will rise into the 50s and 60s from overnight lows near freezing. Winds will be westerly at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning hours and increase to MODERATE as the day progresses. Warn air aloft and abundant sunshine could create areas of unstable snow and the potential for wet slides to occur on steep slopes.
