Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. The primary concern is surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth created by last week's storm cycle and recent winds on ridgecrests. These slabs could be triggered in steep areas near ridges. There have been no large slides reported for some time but the possibility of such slides remains. They would likely require large triggers like multiple snow machiners. The surface slabs, the deeper hard slabs, and cornices will be more susceptible to failure this afternoon when significant warming is expected.
