Kernpunkte

Generally stable conditions prevail, and avalanches remain unlikely. Monitor surfaces for warming throughout the day and exercise caution in consequential terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Generally stable avalanche conditions prevail across the range. We expect a warming trend over the next 48 hours, which could lead to surface warming on sun-exposed slopes and at lower elevations.  Increasing cloud cover overnight will reduce the surface refreeze, and wet avalanche concerns may become more prevalent tomorrow.  Monitor surface conditions as you travel today, be on the lookout for isolated instabilities, and be ready to adjust your plans as conditions warrant.

In addition to changing conditions, there are some other considerations for the backcountry enthusiast. Field observations continue to highlight variable and sometimes challenging surface conditions. Specialized equipment, such as boot and/or ski crampons and an ice axe, can be advantageous when navigating hard, slick surfaces. Rising snowlines, dwindling coverage, and open creeks or lakes may make mountain travel more difficult and time-consuming in some areas.

Prepare for changing conditions and non-avalanche-related hazards if you decide to head into the mountains today, and as always, let us know what you are seeing out there if you do!
