Forecast Snow Stability: Accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist in steeper wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Stability around gully tops and corrie rims will remain poor. Recent wind exposed locations will be scoured and stable. Deep drifts will be encountered in lee locations at lower elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Set to be very cold overnight with the freezing level due rise slightly to around 300 metres during the morning. Remaining dry with a clear and sunny day expected. Winds will be light North to North-North-East. Observed Weather Influences: A cold start to the day, -8 degrees celsius at 900 metres. Overnight light snowfall, dry thereafter. Fresh winds from the North-West but eased during the morning. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab are present in steep wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-West aspects above 900 meters. Stability is poorest where accumulations have achieved depth over older snow-ice around corrie rims and gully tops. Exposed terrain is scoured and often icy. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
