Avalanche Activity

Glide-snow avalanches + daily cycle of naturally triggered avalanche activity

Due to daytime warming and solar radiation, increasing wet-snow avalanches can be expected. Also glide-snow avalanches can be expected in starting zones where there is still sufficient snow on the ground, growing to medium size. Avoid zones below glide cracks.

Snowpack Structure

The slopes are becoming bare of snow. The snowpack is thoroughly wet down to the ground and tends to glide downhill as a single mass.

Weather Forecast

Nocturnal hours: Thin cirrus clouds will not hinder nighttime nocturnal outgoing radiation, but the snowpack will freeze only slowly due to high temperatures. Saturday daytime: Marked high-pressure front conditions, sub-tropical air, sunshine despite cirrus clouds, rising temperatures. At 2000 m: at midday -+9-14 degrees. Light to moderate W/NW winds.

Tendency

As high-pressure front conditions wane Sunday will again be sunny and very warm. Springtime conditions reign with a daytime danger cycle. Backcountry undertakings should be terminated early in the day.
