Kernpunkte

Strong winds, twelve to eighteen inches of new snow and warming temperatures have created easily triggered slabs to three feet in depth on lee slopes. Natural or human triggered surface slides and/or the weight of the new snow will increase the potential to pull out deeper, hard slabs to six feet in depth in steep areas that have not yet slid.TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED. At lower elevations new snow and rain will increase the chance of slides from roofs and steep areas like road cuts.

Avalanche Discussion

Light snow is expected to fall overnight and into Thursday before a fast moving system brings another round of moderate snowfall to the area Thursday evening. Mountain temperatures are to remain in the mid twenties through Thursday afternoon with mountain top winds from the West at 25 to 35 mph. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE on Thursday. Humans could trigger soft slabs to three feet in depth on lee slopes that were formed by the recent storm. The potential also remains to pull out deeper, hard slabs to six feet in depth in steep areas that have not yet slid.
