Avalanche Summary

Dangerous avalanche conditions exist on most slopes, after a second night with above-freezing temperatures to 11,000 feet. You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on any steep slope where you experience wet, cohesionless surface conditions or sink past your ankles. Lower-elevation slopes and slopes facing east to south through west are the most dangerous areas, with the danger increasing into upper elevations as the day warms. Stay out from under large cornices and use caution on northerly alpine slopes, where you may still be able to trigger avalanches which break under hard, wind-drifted slabs of snow. Supportable slopes less than thirty degrees with no overhead hazard offer safer choices.
