At the upper elevations southwest winds have formed isolated pockets of new soft slab up to ten inches in depth. These small surface slabs could be triggered by humans on steep slopes with fresh deposits of wind blown snow that are underlain by slick old snow surfaces.
Avalanche Discussion
Snowfall associated with the next storm system will begin on Saturday morning and end on Saturday evening. Accumulations are expected to be about one to three inches with locally higher amounts in the Salt River and Wyoming Ranges. Temperatures will be in the single digits overnight and rise into the teens during the day. Winds will be southwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Isolated pockets of shallow soft slab up to 12 inches deep could be human triggered on steep wind loaded slopes underlain by slick old snow surfaces.
