Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW in the northern and central portions of the Wyoming Range and MODERATE in the southern and eastern portions of the range where greater depths of new snow fell in the most recent storm. Soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth in the south and east and isolated pockets of slab up to one foot in depth in the central and northern portions of the range were formed by strong east to southeast winds. These surface slabs lie upon slick old snow surfaces and weak faceted snow and are likely to be easily triggered by backcountry users who venture onto steep wind loaded slopes with significant accumulations of fresh snow.

Areas of soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth exist. Caution is advised on steep slopes with significant accumulations of new snow. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
