Snowpack
At the beginning of October, there was already a thin snowpack, particularly in the high alpine regions and on north-facing slopes above 2600 to 2800 metres. On steep north-facing slopes, the snow cover is often faceted.
Outlook
On Monday, there will be intermittent snowfall in the north and east. The snowfall limit will be between 1500 and 2000 metres. Up to 20 cm of snow may fall at high altitudes. Otherwise, it will be quite sunny. On Tuesday, it will be partly cloudy in the northeast and sunny elsewhere. It will become significantly warmer.
The danger of dry avalanches remains to be considered, especially on north-facing slopes above 2600 m and in high alpine regions in general. A single person can trigger small avalanches. On steep grassy slopes wet slides may occur. The risk of being swept away or falling must be taken into account.
