Kernpunkte

Wet snow dominates: Where the snow surface is wet and soft, small avalanches can be triggered. Some loose-snow avalanches may also release naturally from very steep terrain, especially when the sun warms the surface during the day. Where the surface is hard, the avalanche danger is low.

Wind-drifted snow on the peaks: On the highest summits, small unstable wind slabs may be found in leeward areas. Be cautious in steep slopes in or above terrain traps.

Faceted crystals at higher elevations: In the highest, more inland areas of the region (Finse, Eidfjord, Hardangervidda), a weak layer of faceted crystals may still be present deeper in the snowpack. It remains difficult to know exactly where this problem exists.

Våt snø dominerer: Der snøoverflaten er våt og myk kan det være mulig å løse ut mindre skred. Der snøoverflaten er hard er skredfaren liten.

Fokksnø på toppene: På de høyeste toppene kan det finnes noen små ustabile fokksnøflak i leområder. Vær forsiktig i bratte heng i eller over terrengfeller.

Snowpack Structure

Det er lite eller ingen snø i lavereliggende områder. I helgen kom det mye nysnø i fjellet fra S/SV og la seg opp som nysnø- og fokksnøflak med varierende hardhet og tykkelse. Tirsdag og onsdag har det vært varmt til topps med litt regn. Det finnes fortsatt svake lag med kantkorn i snødekket noen steder i høyden i indre deler av regionen, men de er mange steder i ferd med å rundes etter perioder med mildvær. Overliggende snø er i stor grad bærende og det skal mye til for å påvirke svake lag. Områdene med kantkorn er ikke så store i utbredelse siden det var så lite snø når lagene ble dannet, men det kan en del steder ligge mye fokksnø over.
